Organizing: Accessories

"A place for everything and everything in its place."  When you see what you have and display it beautifully, you are so much more likely to wear and have fun with your accessories.  I love putting rings and other small jewels in vintage bowls and plates, using beautiful hooks for necklaces and scarves, and vintage trays for perfume.  Here are some lovely ideas for organizing accessories.

Magazine Love: Gwen Stefani For In Style

As I flipped through the latest issue of one of my favorite magazines, I was struck by the beauty of the shots of former No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani.  The saturated colors and styling are so retro glamorous, and I love the hints of chinoiserie, and that wallpaper!!  Love.

Designer Love: Kishani Perera

I am in love with L.A. designer Kishani Perera's interior designs!  Layers upon layers of mixed prints and bold color and a glamorous art deco/bohemian aesthetic make her one of my all time faves.  Her interiors look glamorous yet comfortable and accessible, and her use of wood and neutrals play well with all of the pattern mixing.

The Beauty Department: Hair Products

I was not blessed with shampoo-commercial-girl hair.  But, after years of experimenting with oils, sprays, lotions and potions, here are the tried and true and worth the money products that make my hair look its best.

Good ol'drugstore  Goody bobby pins are good for so many things and never leave a mark or snag delicate hair.

L'oreal Elnett hairspray-good hold without the stickiness

Moroccan Oil adds life to dry, damaged ends and smells like heaven!

The Sephora wide tooth comb untangles wet hair without any breakage.

The Chi hair straightener is my gold standard for beautifully straight and shiny locks.

Only $5 a pop, Tresemme Heat Tamer does a better job than some products five times the price.

Frederick Fekkai Galanga Root Shampoo and conditioner leaves hair soft and hydrated.

Street Style Muse: Serena Van Der Woodsen

This fictional street style muse is bold, colorful and over the top.  What else would we expect from an upper east side princess?  Money's no object, the world is her playground, and she has a closet any girl would admire.
